Today, the Russian Sambo Championship was solemnly opened in the UMMC Sports Palace (Verkhnyaya Pyshma, Russia). This is the first championship after last year Sambo was officially recognized by IOC as an Olympic discipline.
More than 700 participants of the competition were congratulated by President of the Russian Sambo Federation Sergey Eliseev, Minister of Physical Education and Sports of Sverdlovsk region Leonid Rapoport, and world's most titled sambo wrestler, 19-time Russian champion, 6-times European champion, 11-times World Champion, 8-times World Cup winner Murat Hasanov.
The distinguished guests of the event wished all athletes good luck and to demonstrate their best fight to be selected for the national team. The winners of the championship will have the right to compete at the world championship in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, in November.
The competition will last until February 28. On the first day, sambists will compete for six sets of medals, three for men and three for women.
As an official partner of the Russian Sambo Federation, NORGROUP will supervise each competition thoroughly.
