NORGRAD took part in the major reconstruction of the Taganrog tram network. The company acted as a supplier of state-of-the-art transit shelters.

In total, 102 URBAN Standard 30 shelters were installed on Taganrog streets. Both the exterior and supports are made of shock-proof stainless steel; triplex 6+6 multilayer glass is also used. All shelters have an emergency call button.

On September 27, the country leaders launched traffic on the reconstructed tram network in Taganrog.

The revamped network was introduced by governor Vasily Golubev, Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko, Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov, Chairman of state corporation VEB.RF Igor Shuvalov, and CEO of Sinara Group Mikhail Khodorovsky.

The project completed in Taganrog, Rostov Oblast, is Russia's first and only city-wide project on integrated modernization of the urban electric transportation. Last May a concession agreement was signed between Taganrog and Sinara–Transport Vehicles holding, under which Sinara–GTR Taganrog modernized the city's tram network, which celebrated its 90th anniversary on September 27.

To commemorate the anniversary of the tramway system, the tram network was reconstructed for 2 years. A total of 45.5 km of networks, as well as 43.4 km of the contact network, were revamped. Moreover, 50 rolling stock units and 8 substations were upgraded; 102 cutting-edge transit shelters were deployed; operator room and depot construction was complete. In total, six routes, which connect the historical and the industrial parts of the city, were upgraded.

The project's mission was not just preserving trams as a means of transportation but also making them convenient and comfortable for city residents and guests. Tram network modernization will be followed by visual refurbishing of Taganrog, which will attract even more tourists.

"The success of this project urged us to create an urban electric transportation development program. Together with private investors, we will help modern means of electric transportation evolve in large Russian cities. Sufficient resources will be devoted to this project. Taganrog became the first project that initiated an entire federal project focused on upgrading urban electric transportation," explained Anton Siluanov, Minister of Finance of the Russian Federation.

The 90th anniversary of the Taganrog tramway system Taganrog was commemorated by the stamp with a fixed date: September 27, 2022. The first to put the stamp was Federation Council Chairwoman Valentina Matviyenko.

The postage stamp and postmark show a modern streetcar, which is already running on the streets of Taganrog.

The Governor of Rostov Oblast Vasily Golubev, Chairman of state corporation VEB.RF Igor Shuvalov, CEO of Sinara Group JSC Mikhail Khodorovsky, and Mayor of Taganrog Mikhail Solonitsyn also attended the event.

Head of VEB.RF Igor Shuvalov noted that modernization in 11 more cities will be carried out in the same manner.
